Free Email addresses cannot be used to register ASRI accounts

For a variety of reasons it is now not possible to register ASRI accounts using 'free' email addresses such as hotmail and yahoo. This is been done for the following reasons:

1. Management of bounced email messages is a significant burden on the ASRI administrator
2. It is not possible to verify the identity of the 'free' account recipient to the satisfication of ASRI
3. Dormant 'free' accounts can be re-assigned to other users who are not the intended recipient of the ASRI emails
4. The majority of ASRIs spam and virus emails come from 'free' mail accounts

Users currently subscribed using a 'free' email account will be individually advised of this policy and can have their account details updated with a 'real' email address.

As hotmail and yahoo are not the only 'free' email providers this list may be extended in the future

As an extension to this policy email from hotmail and/or yahoo or people/virii purporting to be from these service providers will be rejected.

2005/01/03 - gmail.com addresses are now no longer accepted.
